Dear Lee,

As a school librarian, I find it most frustrating that children have adopted the words ‘it’s boring’, and therefore don’t finish reading their books. I try to encourage them to finish reading the book, because it is a life skill to be taught! Our children are going to grow up and throughout life, whenever things get tough, leave it. Leave their marriages, leave half-finished assignments, etc etc. So to me, the fact that they can so easily put a book down, and not finish it, simply because it is ‘boring’ is not reason enough. They see ‘boring’ as the word to replace ‘difficult, challenging, etc etc. I wish parents would also instill in their childen the importance of finishing something you have started.

Your books are enjoyed, cover to cover, so the challenge isn’t with them!
